School 2 shows improvement

The New York State Education Department announced last week that School 2 has shown “demonstrable improvement” in the 2018-2019 school year. The school showed progress in nearly all performance indicators and will continue to operate with Superintendent John Carmello as the receiver during the 2019-2020 school year.

Troy CSD voters approve $56m Building Modernization Project

On December 3, residents in the Troy City School District voted in favor of authorizing a $56 million capital project that will include necessary upgrades to nearly every building in the District as well as the purchase of an additional building. The “Troy City School District Building Modernization Project” will be financed without impacting the current tax levy.

Siena College awards $52K scholarships to each School 2 graduate

On Tuesday, June 25, 2019, School 2 held its 5th Grade Graduation ceremony. Keynote speaker Siena College Assistant Director of Admissions Dale Taylor spoke to students about perseverance and then announced, to the surprise of everyone in the room, that each student will receive a $52,000 scholarship to attend Siena College after high school.

School 2, School 18 students present ‘Shark Tank’ projects

Groups of 4th and 5th Grade students from School 2 and Troy School 18 recently presented their projects as part of an annual “Shark Tank” competition at Troy Middle School.Much like the TV show, students used their problem-solving and research skills to create a project to pitch in front of a panel of “Troy Sharks” or judges.
