Troy City School District residents have approved a $115,293,164 budget for the 2021-2022 school year. Three candidates were elected to the Board of Education: Donald Miller; Matthew Flowers, Jr. (incumbent); and Elizabeth Poleto (incumbent). Residents also approved a proposition to establish a new capital reserve fund.

We have been notified that a School 16 student has tested positive for COVID-19. The District worked closely with the Department of Health to conduct thorough contact tracing and has already reached out to the affected individuals with specific quarantine instructions. Please note, that while the CDC has announced that vaccinated individuals may go without masks in many places, New York State and the Troy City School District have not changed our policies. All individuals must wear masks in our buildings whenever social distancing is not possible. Any changes to this policy will be communicated.

We have been notified that a Troy Middle School student has tested positive for COVID-19. We have worked with the Department of Health and have reached out to the affected individuals with quarantine instructions.

To do our part and in keeping with our pandemic no-visitor policy, we have decided to make Tuesday, May 18, a “Remote Only Day” for the students in all five elementary schools, and the Pre-K program at School 12. Our elementary schools and School 12 are used as polling sites for the 2021-2022 Budget Vote and Board of Education Election.

Troy CSD Superintendent John Carmello was one of 92 school district leaders in the area to request guidance from lawmakers regarding in-person instruction in the fall. One of the district’s primary objectives for the next school year will be the return to normalcy as much as possible, but guidance is needed now so that we can begin planning to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
